South Australian Company

The South Australian Company was formed in London by G. F. Angas in 1835 and established in S.A. in 1836 prior to official settlement. Samuel Stephens was the first colonial manager. The Company founded the Bank of South Australia, engaged in shipping, whaling, mining, milling, grazing, to c.1860, and afterwards in rural production. Company registration expired 1949.
