Georgetown County, South Carolina plantation owner and school proprietor; sister of James Louis Petigru (1789-1863). Adele Petigru Allston was the wife of Robert F.W. Allston (1801-1864), and their children, among others, included Benjamin Allston (1833-1900), Charles Petigru Allston (1848-1920), Adele Allston (d. 1915), who married Arnoldus Vanderhorst (1835-1881), and Jane Louise Allston (1850-1937), who married Charles Albert Hill.
