The story of the Gratz family in America begins with the brothers Barnard (1738-1801) and Michael (1740-1811) Gratz, who emigrated to Philadelphia from London in the 1750's and went into business as B. ? and Benjamin (1792-1884), who moved to Kentucky in 1819.
