Agronomist. Anderson received his B.A. (1929) in agronomy; his M.S. (1949); and his Ph. D (1955) in agricultural economics and soil management from Iowa State University. He was employed as a Wayne County 4-H agent (1939-1940); joined the ISU Extension Service in 1942; and served in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946. In 1952, Anderson was named associate director of the Iowa State Agriculture and Home Economics Experiment Station.
When ISU Extension was reorganized into one unit, Anderson was named as Dean and served from 1966-1974. He received the U.S. Department of Agriculture Superior Service Award in 1963 and served as director of the 1976 World Food Conference.
