Although the governor's chief of operations develops the governor's schedule, the Governor's Scheduling Office receives and processes all correspondence and telephone inquiries relating to the governor's time; it produces the governor's written schedule along with briefing packets on persons, events, and organizations appearing in it; and it maintains a file of subsequent press reports. Although there are scheduling records from the terms of Christian Herter (1953-1957), the scheduling function was first regularized during the term of Endicott Peabody (1963-1965) under an appointments secretary, an official continuing at least through the first terms of Michael Dukakis (1975-1979)
