Robert Pearse Gillies, Scottish-born poet and writer. He was an early contributor to Blackwood's Magazine, and was appreciated by Wordsworth. Gillies's friendship with Sir Walter Scott is discussed in his Memoirs of a Literary Veteran (1851), as are his friendly acquaintenceships with James Hogg, Thomas De Quincey, John Kemble, Sarah Siddons, John Galt, and others.
