The President's Commission on Research at Emory was established at Emory University in 2001 under then President William M. Chace to examine the vitality of research in the sciences and humanities at the University.The Commission operated concurrently with a ten-year accreditation study conducted by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to define research, identify who performs research, devise better ways to support research-intensive faculty, and understand how research both affects and is affected by Emory campus culture.
