Life long Chicago resident, real estate developer and past president of the Illinois State Historical Society. His father, Marvin Farr owned a successful real estate agency in Chicago. His mother, Charlotte Camp Farr, was the daugher of L.N. Camp, co-founder of Este & Camp, a piano and organ manufacturing company. His sister, Barbara, wrote childrens stories and her two children started the Clean Plate Club during WWII.
