Gertrude Lavina Addis was born to John and Margaret (Moses) Addis in Kansas on October 6, 1874. She married Charles Albert Robinson (1875-1964) in 1898 and the couple moved to Peoria, Arizona in 1914, where they operated Robinson's General Merchandise Store until 1943.

Gertrude Robinson became a civic leader and was a charter member of the Peoria Women's Club. She was also a member of the Glendale Women's Club and President of the Central District Federation of Women's Clubs in addition to serving on the Arizona Commission on Illiteracy. Gertrude Robinson died in Peoria on September 29, 1957.
