Social worker Helen Morton was educated at the Winsor School in Boston, Mass. (1910-1916), Vassar College (1916-1920), Radcliffe College (1923), and the Simmons College School of Social Work. During the 1920's she began a long affiliation with the South End House, a Boston settlement house, where she served in turn as girls' worker, associate director, and in a number of capacities for United South End Settlements. She was a delegate to international settlement and social work conferences in the late 1920s; executive secretary of the YWCA's National Student Council and general secretary of the Cambridge, Mass., branch; vice-chair of the World's Student Christian Federation's Executive Committee (1934-1945); and on the staff of the World Council of Churches in Geneva, Switzerland.
