College of Physicians of Philadelphia. Committee of Publication.

Hide Profile

The Committee of Publication of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia was appointed in 1841, following a College resolution to publish a summary of its transactions. The committee was charged with reporting all transactions, communications, and discussions and preparing this material for publication.

Following a controversy in 1874, the College began to publish its own annual periodical, Transactions of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia. In 1978, responsibility for this periodical devolved upon the Francis C. Wood Institute for the History of Medicine; by 1984, the Committee on Publications, as it was then known, served as a consultant body. Its duties were assumed by the Committee on Program in 1990.
