The Illinois Suburban Problems Task Force (1982-1984), composed of two Senate members (apponted by the President pro tempore and Senate minority leader), two house members (appointed by the Speaker and House minority leader), seven public members (appointed by the General Assembly leadership and the Governor), two state employees (appointed by the State Treasurer and the Dept. of Commerce and Community Affairs director), was to identify problems unique to suburban areas; meet with concerned public officials and business leaders; conduct public hearings, relevant surveys and studies; and develop remedial legislative recommendations for the General Assembly and local governments. The task force was abolished by the Legislative Commission Reorganization Act of 1984.
