Illinois representative (Republican) from fifty-first district (1965-1972) and fiftieth district (1973-1980). Born and educated in Springfield (Sangamon County). Prominent in community, church, and political organizations. Chairman or vice-chairman of Springfield Airport Authority for nineteen years and one of founders of Capital Airport. Precinct committeeman for thirty years and member of Sangamon County Republican Central Committee.
Elected in at-large election to Illinois House of Representatives in 1964 and served through eight General Assemblies (74-81st). Member of several committees and commissions including the Illinois Bicentennial Commission, 1973-1976, of which he was secretary. Pioneered legislation for senior citizen tax relief and state employee pension systems. Died after a long cancer illness, October 2, 1980. Buried in Williamsville (Sangamon County).
