Worcester Association for Medical Improvement.
The Worcester Association for Medical Improvement was founded in 1845 by eleven Worcester area doctors. Its purpose was to educate its members by the presentation of lectures and discussions on various medical topics. Among the topics discussed were surgery, disease control, mental health, and other topics of medical interest. In 1886 this organization was disbanded and the Worcester Medical Association was formed. Like its predecessor, its purpose was to advance the medical knowledge of its members. The association was open to all doctors in the Worcester area. Meetings were held several times a month, and usually medical cases were discussed. The society disbanded in 1900.
