Berlin, Lawrence S.

Lawrence S. Berlin was born in 1928 in Kansas City, Missouri. After receiving his MA in political science from the University of Michigan in 1958, Berlin joined the Institute of Labor and Industrial Relations. In the years that followed this appointment in 1959, Berlin would serve in several positions in the U-M School of Education. In 1962, he was named director of course programs for the University of Michigan Extension Service, a position he held until 1978. In 1967, he joined the University of Michigan Adult Education Department, holding a joint appointment with the School of Social Work. In 1978, Berlin was named Director of the Continuing Education Program in Human Services for the School of Social Work and Chairman of the Adult and Continuing Education (ACE) Department at the University of Michigan.
