Western artist, rodeo cowboy, rancher and political activist, Jack Van Ryder was born in Continental, Ariz. in 1899 and lived in Arizona at various times during his life. He wrote "Ryding on the Range", a popular column in the Brewery Gulch Gazette, and wrote columns in the Tucson Times, a weekly paper he purchased in 1945.
