Weir, James R. (James Robert), 1882-
Variant namesJames R. Weir was a well known explorer and agricultural economist specializing in tropical plants, especially rubber and subsidiary crops. Employed as a consultant by Ford Motor Company from 1933 to 1938, he set up a research laboratory to develop superior strains of rubber at the company's Fordlandia and Belterra plantations in Brazil.
