Pratt, Benjamin, 1710-1763
Pratt, graduate of Harvard College (1737), was a prominent Boston lawyer. He was appointed chief justice of New York in 1761.

Benjamin Pratt (1710-1763) earned his Harvard AB 1737 and served Harvard as Librarian (1742-1743). Eventually, he became Chief Justice of the Province of New York. Pratt came from a humble background and was crippled in a fall as a youth. He was unable to live in college or complete his studies in the usual manner due to physical disability and pain resulting from the early injury. He nonetheless suceeded in becoming a highly successful lawyer.
Nathan Prince (1698-1748) earned his Harvard AB 1718 and served as a Tutor (1723-1742) and Fellow (1728-1742).
