The Capricorn Africa Society was founded in 1949 to promote a native policy for the Capricorn, an area which included the British territories of Kenya, Northern and Southern Rhodesia, Nyasaland, Uganda, and Tangyanika. It sought to make this region into a single self-governing federation under the British crown. The society was headquartered in London.
