Brearly, David, 1745-1790
Variant namesBrearley was a New Jersey lawyer, served as an officer in the Continental Army in the Revolutionary War and was a delegate from New Jersey to the U.S. Constitutional Convention and a signer of the U.S. Constitution. He was the New Jersey Supreme Court Chief Justice from 1779-1789 and was appointed a federal judge in 1789 but died shortly thereafter.
