Genealogist of the Ferreira, Vieira and Guymon families, who was born in Springfield, Ill. but moved to Sacramento, Calif. later in life. Jouquim Vieira and his wife, Mary and their children came to Springfield, Ill. in 1849 from Madeira Island to escape persecution of protestants on that island. James Ferreira had also come to Springfield, although others of the Ferreira family settled in Jacksonville, Ill. Charlotte Vieira, daughter of Joaquim and Mary Vieira, married James Ferreira in 1860. James served in the 114th Illinois Infantry, Company G during the Civil War. He and Charlotte had thirteen childen and bought a number of properties in Sangamon County. Their daughter, Linnie, married William Guymon, a miner, whose ancestor, Isaiah, fought in the Revolutionary War.
