New Mexico. Governor (1943-1946 : Dempsey)
Dempsey, a Democrat, was elected Governor in 1942 and re-elected in 1944. He also served seven terms as United States Representative for New Mexico (1935-41 and 1951-58). Dempsey was born in Pennsylvania in 1879.
