Horne, Donald.
Variant namesDonald Horne, author, editor and academic, was born in Sydney in 1921. He began a career in journalism with the Sydney Daily Telegraph (1945). In 1958 he became founding editor of the Observer, and served two terms as editor with the Bulletin (1961-1962, 1967-1972). In 1973 he began teaching political science at the University of NSW and became Associate Professor in 1981 and Emeritus Professor in 1987. The award-winning The lucky country (1964) was his first published book.
