Israel, Elijah W. (Elijah Witney), 1839-1863.
A native of Johnson County, Ind., Israel later moved to Rensselaer, Jasper County, Ind., where he farmed. During the Civil War he served with the 87th Indiana Infantry Regiment and was killed at the Battle of Chickamauga.
