McMichael, Paul Agalus, 1820-1869.
Lieutenant colonel of Orangeburg, S.C., who served in the 20th South Carolina Volunteers, Confederate Army; McMichael raised a Confederate volunteer company that became Company G of the Twentieth South Carolina Infantry. He served (1861-1863) in the Charleston, S.C., area mainly around Sullivan's Island; in Virginia, he participated in the battle of Cold Harbor; captured at Cedar Creek and taken to Fort Delaware, a prison for Confederate officers; McMichael was released from prison after the Confederate surrender and returned to South Carolina where he died of complications resulting from his imprisonment.

Paul Agalus McMichael (1820-1869) was a school teacher, county treasurer, and Confederate officer with the 20th South Carolina Infantry Regiment.

He served in the Charleston, South Carolina area (1861-1863) mainly around Sullivan's Island, and in Virginia, where he participated in the battle of Cold Harbor and was promoted to Lt. Col of the 20th Regiment. He was captured at Cedar Creek and taken to Fort Delaware.
