Reade, Leslie
Theater Guild on the Air opened as a Sunday feature on ABC for United States Steel on September 9, 1945. It was the radio arm of the Theatre Guild, a small production company originally formed by theater people just after World War I.
Theatre Guild on the Air was a showcase for stars as well as directors and authors. It did for Broadway what Lux had done for films. Most of the radio plays were drawn directly from the stage.
