The American painter, composer, and author Frederick Arthur Bridgman was born in Tuskegee Alabama. He attended classes at the National Academy of Design in New York, and in 1866 went to study in Paris at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. He exhibited at the Paris Salon and the Paris Exposition Universelles in 1879 and 1889.
