Lekachman, Robert.
Variant namesRobert Lekachman (1920-1989), was a progressive economist who drew upon Marxian an Keynesian ideas to promote social justice along with economic growth, aided by an activist governmental role. He was a professor at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York and the author of several books and numerous articles, and in addition was publically and politically active, serving on various boards and commissions, including a Fund for the Republic project on religion which influenced John F. Kennedy's 1960 Presidential campaign speech on religion. Among his books are The Age of Keynes (1966), Capitalism for Beginners (1981), and Greed is not Enough: Reaganomics (1982).
