Stephen J. Plowkio was born in 1894. He enlisted May 1915 in the 2nd U.S. Cavalry. Became Corporal on April 19, 1919. Claims to be 1st American soldier to do a watch on the Rhine in World War I at the famed Ludendorff Bridge at Remagen, Germany. As a bugler, he sounded the 1st "First Call" at Plattsburg Barracks May 15, 1917 when the 1st Officers Training Camp opened.
