Brown, Bedford, 1825-1897
Son of North Carolina senator Bedford Brown, Sr.; commissioned into the 24th North Carolina Infantry, 1861; from 1862 to 1863 he served in the 43rd North Carolina Infantry as a surgeon; later became medical director of the Confederate Army during the Canley Campaign in West Virginia; after military service ended moved with his family to Alexandria, Va.
