Born Irma Leisinger in Badenweiler, Germany, in 1910?. She was a student of Andre Lhote in Paris, and studied at the Academy of Arts in Berlin under Carl Hofer. Married Samuel Engel, professor of ophthamology at Stanford University, in 1932. Had several exhibitions of her work in New York and San Francisco. Following the death of Mr. Engel, she married Edwin Grabhorn in 1964.
