Whitaker, Walter Chiles, 1823-1887.
Walter C. Whitaker was a Brig. General in the Army of the Cumberland during the U.S. Civil War at the time of this battlefield report. He was a Kentucky farmer and attorney. George H. Thomas was the commanding general of the Army of the Cumberland.
