John Lane The Bodley Head Limited (publisher : active 1919-1957)
Founded by Elkin Mathews and John Lane in 1887, adopting the shorter title 'The Bodley Head' informally. Falling into financial difficulties is was taken over by John Lane's nephew, Allen Lane, as part of Allen and Unwin in 1936 brfore being acquired by Max Reinhardt in 1957 and formally named The Bodley Head
