Emily Polet Boucher (1907-1963), the daughter of Antonio and Mary Polet, was born in Nome, Alaska. She graduated from the University of Washington in 1928, and in 1932 married Wilfred Amede Boucher, with whom she had three children. From 1943 to 1963 she was editor-publisher of the "Nome Nugget."
