Eleanor Kinzie Gordon, daughter of John H. Kinzie, was born in 1835 and raised in Chicago.

Gordon later moved to Savannah, Ga. and became involved in a variety of philanthropic causes. She also authored several books including Lieutenant Helm's Account of the Fort Dearborn Massacre. Gordon died in Savannah in 1917.
