The Graduate School of Social Work was founded in 1936. In 1938, the School was accepted for membership in the American Association of Schools of Social Work and fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. In 1968, the school moved from Boston to the Chestnut Hill campus. Since 1979 the School of Social Work has awarded the Doctor of Social Work degree.
