Since 1939, The Oram Group, Inc., founded by Harold L. Oram, has been the premier fund raising firm for liberal causes, especially those concerned with national and international social, political, civil rights, environmental, educational, and health issues. Harold Oram pioneered many of today's direct mail fund raising methods. His clients included the Spanish Refugee Relief Campaign, the Committee to Aid Refugee Chinese Intellectuals, the Southern Tenant Farmers Union, the National Sharecroppers Fund, Volunteers for Adlai Stevenson, the Republic of South Vietnam, the Emergency Committee of Atomic Scientists, the NAACP/Legal Defense Fund, the National Urban League, the Natural Resources Defense Council, Planned Parenthood, the Hampton Institute, Howard University, Morehouse College of Medicine, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, MEDICO, and the American Research Hospital in Poland.
