Isaac Sorensen was born on February 24, 1840, in Sjaelland, Denmark. He became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints after missionaries visited his father in 1854. The family relocated to Mill Creek, Utah, in 1857, and Sorensen soon moved to Cache Valley where he helped establish the community of Mendon. Sorensen remained a resident and community leader in Mendon until his death on November 7, 1922.

Mormon pioneer. Isaac Sorensen was born Feb. 24, 1840 in Denmark. He converted to the LDS Church in 1854. The Sorensen family sold their land in 1857 and moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. Isaac and his brother Peter pioneered in Cache Valley, where Isaac participated in the establishment of the community of Mendon. Isaac Sorensen wrote his diary in two volumes, which he completed in 1921. He also wrote a yearly chronicle of Mendon covering the period 1840-1919. Isaac Sorensen died on Nov. 7, 1922.
