Hodges, Graham R
Variant namesMost of the prints in this collection come from the pages of Leslie’s and Harper’s Weekly magazines. During their heyday these two publications accounted for a large number of the illustrations that were seen by the average American. Both were particularly distinguished in the images that they published during the Civil War. Harper’s Weekly was published from 1857 to 1916. Leslie’s Weekly dated from 1852-1922. Graham R. Hodges was a pastor from New York who collected these prints over a number of years and then donated them to the Briscoe Center for American History.
