Variant namesIn 1893 French writer Anatole France first published his sketches of life in 18th century France, La Rot̂isserie de la reine pédauque, and it quickly became a popular text for illustrators. In 1935 Editions du Nord of Brussels published an illustrated edition as number 21 in the series Les glories litteŕaires. Sylvain Sauvage was a prolific illustrator of French texts.
