J. Frederick Kelly was a well known scholar, architect, and restorationist. Born in New York State in 1888, he moved to New Haven in 1900 and lived here until his death in 1947. He is especially known for his interest in the colonial architecture of Connecticut. The 114 Whitney Avenue of the New Haven Colony Historical Society was designed by Kelly and he also worked on restoration of the Pardee-Morris House.
