Sisters of Charity (New York, N.Y.)
Variant namesThe Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul were established in 1846 in McGowan's Pass at 109th St., New York City. When their land was appropriated for Central Park, they moved to Font Hill, now in the Riverdale section of the Bronx. The Mother House was named Mount Saint Vincent.

Mother Elizabeth Ann Seton founded the Sisters of Charity in 1809 in Emmitsburg, Md. She became the first native-born American saint in 1975.
