Royal Brown Hassrick (1917-1989) was an anthropologist, author, and rancher. He was a student of American Indian life and author of several books on the subject. Hassrick was the curator of the South Plains Indian Museum for the U.S. Department of Interior in Okla. (1948-1952); assistant general manager of the Indian Arts and Crafts Board for the Department of Interior, Denver, Colo. (1952-1954); curator of American Indian Art, Denver Art Museum (1955-1962); DAM assistant director (1964-1967).
