A major figure in the American Maritime community, Nicholas B. Dean (1933-2005), of Edgecomb, Me., was a writer, photographer, and adventurer. He was instrumental in returning the bow of the Snow Squall to South Portland from Port Stanley in the Falkland Islands in 1987. Moulton) and his master-work, Snow Squall: The Last American Clipper Ship (2001).
