Summer Evangelistic Committee of Philadelphia Presbytery
Variant namesPresbyterian Evangelistic Committee of Philadelphia was established in 1899 by John H. Converse, John Wanamaker and other prominent Presbyterians to hold evangelistic tent meetings; the Committee held Children's rallies and Vacation Bible Schools and founded fourteen churches and missions; name changed in 1925 to Summer Evangelistic Committee of Philadelphia Presbytery; in 1955 it started enlisting seminary students to work with inner city churches.
