Bird family.
Bird family members include John D. Bird (1796-1864); service in the U.S. Navy in the War of 1812; returned to civilian life sometime after 1822; and was employed by the Farmers Bank in New Castle, Del. Charles Bird (1838-1920); service in the Civil War; after the Civil War remained in the regular army and served in the quartermaster and transport services and in the Spanish-American War; retired with the rank of brigadier general.
