Paterson, Fred, 1897-1977
Variant namesFred Paterson had a long career as barrister, parliamentarian and member of the Australian Communist Party. He read Classics at the University of Queensland, and became the University's Rhodes Scholar for 1919. After studying Theology at Oxford University, he returned to study Law at Queensland University. He was elected MLA for Bowen for three consecutive terms, running for the Communist Party.
