American Heritage

Hide Profile

American Heritage Magazine began as a soft-cover quarterly pamphlet called "American Heritage: A Journal of Community History" for the members of the American Association for State and Local History in 1947. Between 1949 and 1954 it became "American Heritage." In mid 1954 the editor, along with other members of the AASLH, acquired the title from the Association and launched a new hard-cover series. Samuel P. Reed was the controlling owner and chairman of the board for many years. In 1986 the magazine was sold to Forbes Inc. In 2007 Forbes sold it to Edwin S. Grosvener.
