John Cheves Haskell was a Confederate officer and lawyer of South Carolina.

Lawyer, planter, state legislator, native of Abbeville County, S.C.; Confederate soldier [see published memoir]; lived as planter in Mississippi, ca. 1865-1872; moved to Columbia, 1877, and elected to General Assembly for several terms; acted as attorney, ca. 1883-1890, for various railroad companies in South Carolina, Virginia, and elsewhere, including Columbia and Greenville Railroad; husband of Sallie Hampton, 1865-1886; married Lucy Hampton, 1896.
