Robert Joseph Charles Butow (b. 1924) was an instructor in History from 1954 to 1959, and an Assistant Professor form 1959 to 1960 at Princeton University in New Jersey. He is currently Professor Emeritus at the Jackson School of International Studies at the University of Washington, Seattle (since 1990). He was an Associate Professor from 1960 to 1966 and a full Professor from 1966 to 1990. Butow is the author of a number of books and articles on the Roosevelt period, including The Roosevelt Tapes (1982).
